In the era of legalized marijuana, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has nefarious plans to exploit America’s best and brightest graduate students using synthetic Hallucinogens and THC compounds. They have partnered with a disaffected CIA agent who was instrumental in the CIA’s domestic hallucinogen experiments known as Project MKULTRA during the Cold War. The former agent is a student of the strategy of Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher who lived 2500 years ago.

The hallucinogens open a person’s mind to the power of suggestion and allow CCP baristas at upscale American cafes to easily question graduate students for technical information about new technologies in their university laboratories. The methods used mirror the MKULTRA protocols from the Cold War.

What an interesting and thrilling read this turned out to be. The characters are so well drawn you feel personally involved and terrified for their sake. They are at times brave but very human you will feel for them. I liked the details he went into for they help his readers to appreciate the setting and time period. Highly recommended and not to be missed.

Eric Bornstein does a fantastic job of bringing the reader straight into his visionary world and not just back in time, but do a different setting than we may be used to as well. The thriller aspect was engaging and exciting the entire way through, all sorts of things happen that keep you reading until the end. You're guessing and second guessing as you try to put the pieces together.

Exceptional! The settings and descriptions are vivid and real. The author is a master of making the reader want to know what happens next. Solid characters with a brief background so you know where the lead is coming from, yet rich with so much history. I think I loved the conclusion the most. Great read.
