Course 1 - Fentanyl & Beyond: The Evolving Drug Crisis

The Evolving Drug Crisis

In 2023, well over 130,000 people died from opioid overdoses in the U.S. alone. Many of these individuals died from fentanyl poisoning – unintentionally. They were using other drugs that were laced with fentanyl. Now, the illicit drug industry is making matters worse. The illegal drug market in America has been infiltrated with even more dangerous synthetic opioids and central nervous system depressants that go beyond fentanyl.

Drugs like Nitazenes, Xylazine, Brorphine, Gas Station Heroin (Tianeptine) and designer Benzodiazepines are frequently compounded with other illicit drugs. This webinar will delve into these new and life-threatening synthetic narcotics.

This webinar will help health professionals and clinicians from various backgrounds review the pharmacology of opioids in general, from fentanyl in 2012 to new synthetics in 2023. Moreover, the course will include a synopsis of these latest synthetic drugs and alternative opioids that many clinicians have not yet encountered in practice.
